Tonight at 1800 hrs I stood facing west to say goodbye to a very special man,Tony “da Teach” Hill, my friend for life.
You stretched out your hand to me with unconditional warmth, love and friendship, never criticizing, always the true hand of friendship and support across the miles yet when you needed help somehow you slipped by me unnoticed, you never sought my hand in return and for that I will always be sorry.
You chose instead to leave me with endless memories that I will treasure always - your wicked brilliant smile, laughing eyes, seemingly endless compassion for your fellow man, quick wit and sense of humor - I am truly honored.
As I stood facing upwards tonight the sky was overcast and black save for one small piece of fluffy white cloud. Eerily, within minutes it was transformed, the black disappeared, the sky became clear and slowly that white cloud dissipated and in its place one very bright star appeared. I smiled as I stood watching my friend ride off into the night.
I know Tones will be with friends old and new when makes his first pit stop but somehow I envisage a voice greeting him, saying:
“G’day mate, a bit early aren’t you? You ride a what these days?? Geez, never mind, get your butt back on the seat, crank her up and let’s get going, we’ve got a lot of riding to do. Stop looking for the damn remote thingy, you’re not in the garage anymore. Man have I got some great roads to share with you, talk about long and twisty. Scenery ain’t bad up here either.”
Adieu my friend, God Bless.
