Erold Ansell has passed out of our lives. We cannot change that---only accept it. Not often in life does someone impact on so many, making them smile, laugh, and now cry. When Bill Dutcher first posted the accident yesterday all I could do was say a prayer of hope. I was in shock, knowing of the possible outcome, hoping that it wasn't true. I cried in my office, on the way home and even this morning. I finally went to bed at 1:30am, up at 5am, I just couldn't sleep.
This morning I sat on the front porch and watched as the sun and light of a new day chased the moon on over the horizon. The birds chirping, a dog barking in the distance and early-to-work neighbors leaving in the twilight. Life goes on.
Erold and I spoke of many things in our private emails. Some serious, some just plain silly. Erold was going to try and come see a space shuttle launch while in the U.S. if the time was right. I teased him that he might drown in the king size waterbed. Since my bike is a 92SE like "Leonard", we talked of breeding them and having a bunch of little "Leonards" to ride. Really silly stuff, but hey, it gave us both a laugh.
And Erold, though you never made it to Florida's shores, you made it into our hearts. You made me laugh many times and now you made me cry. But thats what friends are all about. I will never forget you my friend. All things "Aussie" reminds me of you and especially everytime I look at my bike, I'll remember you.
Mr. Erold Ansell (el Whaleo Supremo), yes, you are gone--but you will never be forgotten. God Bless us all.
